FIELD GUIDE

How to rule the wilds

Build your realm

Start with one castle. On your turn, place the tile you claimed last round. One of its two squares must touch matching terrain or your castle horizontally or vertically. Diagonals do not connect. Your castle matches every biome.

All squares must fit inside a rectangle no larger than 5×5. You may rotate tiles, but once placed they cannot move. If no legal placement exists, you must discard the tile.

Draft the next tile

After placing, claim one unclaimed tile from the next offer. Tiles stay in ascending number order. Whoever claimed the lower-numbered tile acts earlier in the following round. Taking a stronger tile often means acting later.

With two players, each player has two rulers and takes two turns per round. Games use 24 tiles with two players, 36 with three, and all 48 with four.

Score your crowns

A region is a group of matching biome squares connected horizontally or vertically. Each region scores its number of squares multiplied by the crowns inside it. A region without crowns scores zero. Separate regions of the same biome score separately.

The highest total wins. Ties go to the player with the largest single region, then the most crowns. Players still tied share victory.

Canvas controls

When placing, use “Rotate tile” and select one of the glowing starting squares on your realm. When claiming, select a highlighted tile in the next offer. Click any player card above the realm to inspect their board.
